Stove-Top Potpourri & Watercolor Sand Dollars

Dec. 4: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Presented by Herrig Center for The Arts

Guests will enjoy two festive, hands-on workshops inspired by the charming craft stalls of traditional European holiday markets and presented by the Herrig Center for the Arts. Participants can assemble Old-World Stovetop Potpourri using citrus and spices for a cozy, gift-ready fragrance, then create Watercolor Sand Dollar Ornaments using soft coastal watercolor techniques. Each activity blends classic European artistry with a touch of Gulf Coast whimsy.

Rooted in the playful folk-art traditions found across European holiday markets, this whimsical workshop presented in partnership with the Manatee Performing Arts Center invites guests to transform everyday paintbrushes into cheerful Santa ornaments. Participants can customize their brush with festive colors and embellishments, creating a handmade keepsake that adds charm to any tree. It is approachable, creative, and fun for all ages.

Gingerbread has been a beloved part of European winter celebrations for centuries, symbolizing warmth, hospitality, and festive cheer. Presented in partnership with Home Depot, this hands-on workshop invites children to assemble and decorate their own DIY wooden gingerbread figure, using simple tools and provided craft materials. 250 kits will be available while supplies last!

Gingerbread villages have long been a highlight of European holiday markets, celebrating creativity, community, and the joy of building something together. Presented in partnership with the Friendly City Foundation, this hands-on workshop invites children of all ages to create and decorate their own gingerbread houses and holiday ornaments using craft materials provided. Each project is fun, festive, and designed to spark imagination.
